A way out of town
video, dvd, 00:45 min, loop
The video focuses on known, for many of us, almost designer-like, romantic relicts or totems from the socialist past. Monuments and urban symbols from the previous regime, until today embellishing our roadsides, represent an image of a specific Slovak post-socialist civilized country. Until now, during past years, its face has not changed much. The past is still present. The video could be decoded also as an itinerary of last examples of socialist 'public art', investigating the time, when artists, and not only those loyal to the system, had enough work to survive and places to exhibit. At least, on roadsides of now 'lucrative' roads.
